Sun-day Blues

Currently I'm using SKII and this picture was snap on day 5th of using the product. Nothing much change, not from Ayu Pertiwi turns to Lee Shing Je  >_<  but I can feel the smoothness on my face. Mmmm should wait for a month to see any changes. I want a glowing skin! and this picture is a pretty liar, restaurant lighting peeps. Haha..

Outfit: RM10 Shawl, Cotton On lace cardigan and Zara shirt

Layering tips:
When the weather is 90 degrees and sunny, opt for a light-weight cardigan. Black blazer and tweed jacket under the sun? ohhh mmmm geeee ;)

Love,

Someone Need to Shop

Life spam of my both Clinique's moisturiser are ended up here. Well, it looks like someone need to shop for a new products. *Grin*

This time I decided to switch to another brand after 4 years using Clinique.Nothing wrong, nothing bad with this product just I want to try something different.  After did some review from the other blog and study a few products, I decide to switch to SKII. I never use this brand before but no harm to try somemore my skin has no problem at all, mmm not even a pimples or pigmentation. Am looking for product suits my mature skin as I trusted on prevent is better than cure. Yup for wrinkle and uneventoned skin. But I'm still using Clinique for certain product such as cleanser (their's is darn good) toner and few other items.

For beginning, I might start with a basic product of SKII like essence (many comments this is awesome), their lotion and stempower.

Nanti bolehla tanya "kak ton cantik tak?"...Hehe I'm kidding

The Top Treatments Explained

Facials 411: The Top Treatments Explained

facials-embed

From extreme weather to nerve-racking elections and everything in between, there have been far too many contributors to our skin freak-outs of late. Our usual prescription for out-of-control skin is to head to a pro, pronto. But, if you’ve visited a spa lately, you already know that the facials menu couldn't be any harder to read if it were in Greek. The differences among skin types are common knowledge — but what do all those different luxurious facial treatments actually do? And who are they for?

Don’t worry, we’re here to keep you (and your skin) stress-free. So, we headed to two of NYC’s hottest spas to chat with their aestheticians and got the lowdown on the five most popular facials to ensure that no matter how bumpy life gets, your face won't show it. Go ahead, read up, and then take your pick.

Anti-Acne
We kind of figured that this treatment would be best for those of us who have oily skin or are prone to pimples, but Bliss technician and facial specialist Keisha Pittman got us thinking outside the box. “In addition to treating breakouts, it’s also super-soothing and calms irritated skin.” Clarifying facials use a combination of extractions and product application to bust blemishes and, like Bliss’ No ‘Zit’ Sherlock treatment, can tack on light therapy, which zaps zit-causing bacteria at the source.

Anti-Aging
Even if you aren’t starting to sag or worrying about wrinkles, you might still want to consider trying out one of these rejuvenating treatments. According to Alice Villanova, aesthetician at the Guerlain Spa in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, it’s also perfect for anyone heading to a fancy event. “You’re going to see some very dramatic results,” she told us, “and you’ll see the difference in your skin immediately.” A key component of an anti-aging facial is deep massage. This stimulates collagen production, resulting in a lifted, fresh face. “I tell my clients to think of it as gymnastics for the skin,” Villanova says. The Orchidée Impériale Facial incorporates three sets of face, neck, and décolleté massage with application of intensive masks and a concentrated anti-aging serum. The best thing about anti-aging facials? Consistent treatments will lead to legit results.

Brightening
Redness and irritation are common around this time of year, especially for us city dwellers. If your complexion needs a tone reboot, a combo of microdermabrasion and serums will get your glow back ASAP. And if you think that super-scrubbing your skin will only irritate you further, think twice. “Microdermabrasion intensifies treatment results, as it helps active ingredients to easily absorb into your skin,” says Villanova, who recommends that those with hyperpigmentation give brightening facials a try, as well.

Detox
If you’re getting your hot toddy on as often as we are, your liver isn’t the only thing that needs a break. “Detox facials are like a breath of fresh air for your face — literally,” says Pittman. These treatments use hardcore amounts of oxygen to help tired, congested skin get the rehab it needs. Not unlike a juice cleanse, Bliss’ Triple Oxygen Facial gets rid of the grit and gunk with (you guessed it) three different forms of O2, in addition to extractions, cleansing, and masks.

Hydrating
We’re getting into the thick of the holiday season and while it might be exciting to get our red Starbucks cups back, that change in eating and drinking (not to mention the crunch at work) is less than thrilling, especially for our skin. Heating systems can also wreak havoc on our hydration levels. But dehydrated skin is not dry skin, cautions Villanova. “Dehydrated skin results from a lack of moisture content in the skin,” and anyone suffering from this, regardless of skin type, would benefit from the intensive hydrating ingredients in the moisturizers, masks, and serums that are applied during these type of treatments. Guerlain’s version, the Radiance Facial, is named after the glow skin has when it's balanced and healthy. But, you’re not done yet! “The moisture level needs to be maintained through proper care at home,” warns Villanova. Think of it as homework.

Does Liking A Luxury Brand Make You A Beauty Snob?

luxe-beauty

Now, we know we are going to ruffle more than a few feathers with that headline alone, but hear us out. A while back we posted a piece on the emergence of CC creams and how Chanel was the first non-Asian brand to introduce one. Reader Rachel Phipps commented that while she wasn't so sure about the CC cream craze, she would most likely be trying it because if it's Chanel, it has to be good.

This sparked a veritable firestorm in the comments section, with many readers accusing her of snobbery and others defending her love of luxe. For us, this raised a very valid question: What's the difference between buying the highest-quality products and being a beauty snob? So, forgive us for talking out of both sides of our mouth, but let's sum up the arguments and hear both sides of the story. Let the debate begin.

Luxury Beauty Brands Are Just About The Label
Like a designer bag festooned with labels, a luxe beauty product signifies someone's status in the world and lets people know just how fancy they are. To luxe-brand detractors, it says, "I can afford the best of the best, and I want you to know it." Sure, they can spend $6 on a drugstore lipstick in the same shade, but without those interlocking C's, what's the point? Not to mention the fact that many luxury lines are owned by companies that make many drugstore brands, so all those innovative ingredients and high-tech formulas eventually trickle down to the bargain brands. The common consensus amongst the anti-luxury crowd is that people who are devoted only to designer brands refuse to venture outside their spoiled bubble.

Closing argument: There's no reason to spend that much $$$ on a beauty product when there are perfectly good, non-designer options available for much less.

Luxury Beauty Brands Are Just Better Quality
For luxury-lovers, it's not about the label or the price tag — it's about what's inside that monogrammed bottle. Sure recognizable brands are nice, but it's the connotation behind that label — one of quality, high standards, and, yes, prestige — that drives devotees to shell out their hard-earned cash. That satisfying heft of a Tom Ford lipstick, for instance, doesn't come cheap — even in the manufacturing process. And when you get into high-concept creams that harness next-generation technologies, that's bound to cost more than a bargain cream with basic emollients. Want formulas that don't budge and pigments that look just as lush on your skin as they do in the tube? Those things cost a pretty penny to make, so you're going to have to drop some dough. And while it's true that many high-priced ingredients trickle down into drugstore products, they don't do so in the same concentration, meaning you lose a lot of the efficacy behind those formerly power-packed formulas.

Closing argument: You'd still be devoted to the brand, even if it wasn't backed by a major designer — it's the quality of the product, technology, and formula inside that counts.

Both arguments make interesting points, but we want to know where you stand. Do luxury brands really make better products, or is it just about showing off a designer label?
